Model Exportation problems

So, my friend exported some models from Blender, using the latest SMD export plugin. As we understand it, one blender unit equals one hammer unit. After importing the models using the asw studiomdl (no gui wrappers for me!), and viewing them in Hammer, they are all about 1/10 (estimated) size of what they should be.

What is going on here? Is there some common mistake we are making?

is there a $scale cmd in the .qc ie $scale "100.00" would make it 100 times bigger,, i think the blender plugins are for orangebox and not asw scr so that could be the cause of the scale problem :/
