Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl Crashing

I have been playing Shadow of Chernobyl for a while, but the game is crashing a lot on the second area (Where the garbage is and you need to kill the bandits).

The problem I have is the next one

XR_3DA.exe caused BREAKPOINT in module "c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\stalker shadow of chernobyl\bin\xrCore.dll" at 0023:00777CB5, xrDebug::backend()+165 byte(s)

My Specs are
- Core i7 960
- 6 GB DDR3
- 285 GTX
- 1000w PSU

I'm using the Steam version of this game, using the following mods : Realistic weapons, ingame CC, and Complete 2009.

What I don't understand of the log is that the game seems to want to load the file "E:\stalker\sources\trunk\xr_3da\xrGame\ui\UIXmlIn it.cpp". But I don't have a E: file connected to the PC.

I know it's a bit of a chore to get back there, but have you tried playing it without any mods?

I will try it and report. At least I might be able to find the mod that's giving the problem.

What's ingame CC? Some kinda closed caption mod?

Complete 2009+realistic weapon shouldn't cause crashes.

That's my set up and no, it doesn't crash. Well all right it did once in over 60 hours, but that's practically a miracle compared to my past ShoC play throughs.

Yes, it's to get subtitles on most parts of the game.

I formatted my PC (Now HDD in Raid0 and upgraded gpu to 570 gtx), reinstalled Stalker (without mods), now when I load a save the game crashes, giving me the following error

I have the exact same problem. I think it's directly related to Windows 7. I get the same crash, and the only mod I have installed is Complete 2009. I have a retail version of the game. Fully patched of course. I have reinstalled the game and the mod 4 times now, with administrator rights, and I even removed User Account Control from the registry so that Windows 7 couldn't interfere with my affairs. Still crashing.

When I was still using Windows XP, Complete 2009 ran with absolutely no problems. Last spring I updated to Windows 7. Now Complete 2009 crashes randomly in about 10 minute intervals, with always the exact same bug report as seen in the OP. Sometimes instead of crashing, the screen goes bright yellow and you can barely see some vague shapes as you aim around.

My specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz
3GB DDR3 RAM
NVidia Geforce GTS 250 1GB - newest drivers
Creative X-Fi - EAX enabled
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

Thanks. I disabled EAX from the Creative panel and STALKER options, and played an hour straight with no crashes. So, looking good so far.

Saves are mod-dependent. So if you tried to load up a save without a mod that was present when that save was originally made, that is most likely your issue.

If you suspect mods as being an issue. You can disable them easily by exiting the game, renaming your GAMEDATA folder. Then load up the game, start a new game (as a test) and play that for while to see if crashes still happen.

The usual place to look when crashes happen with alot of games, especially STALKER series is your CPU/GPU temperatures. Use a program that allows them to be monitored in the background and perhaps give you an alert when temps get to certain point. CoreTemp (for CPU) and MSI Afterburner (for GPU) are great apps to use for this. Afterburner will give OSD of your temp & fps in-game so you can better track your GPU. Setup CoreTemp to use a temp for overheat protection + alarm, this way it can alert you if the CPU gets too hot for your liking. But overall it's usually the GPU that will overheat first in most cases. Games will simply crash when this occurs, so always look there first.

Please help, if anyone even views this thread anymore, when i play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC, when ever i try to change options, load a game, go to a new level, etc... It goes black screen for a while, and then it shows the loading screen, but it takes forever to load, please help.

- Run the game .EXE as Admin
- Turn off Steam Community for STALKER games
- Try using -noprefetch in your game's shortcut

Same issue here, after installing Complete 2009 (enter the game at least once, exit, install the mod as administrator) every time the game only load the little splash screen, then screen go black, then popup error.
