Question What Does "OP" Mean?

Simple question, but I've been thinking of different things, but never actually knew. The best thing I can think of is "original poster" but I'm not sure. Can someone tell me what it really means?

Although, this being a set of forums for gamers, depending on the context a lot of people may think an aspect of a game (typically a weapon, power, or character class) is "over powered".

Ah.. mkay. I thought it was for a while, but some ways people used it didn't make sense. xP

Thanks.

Oh yeah, forgot to be specific. I know what OP means in terms of a weapon as Over Powered, just not what it meant when people called the person who started the thread. Thanks anyway Ace42.

I wish the internet would stick with one thing. It used to be TC which was "Thread Creator".

Theres a few other ones like this, but I'm too lazy to remember them.

Yeah that is true for example in fighting games take SSF4 AE the characters Yun,Yang and Fei Long are referred to being quite OP also a certain move can be OP like for sometime in the new MK pre 1.02 patch Kung Lao's Spin was OP due to how fast it is and the hit box on it was ridicules plus it was almost completely safe on block save for a really fast move which was rare and few charecters had and could be used as a wake up move and all wake up moves have 1 frame of invincibility same with Kano's upball as it was almost totally safe on block when they speed it up in a hotfix

OP can also stand for Ordinis Praedicatorum which is Latin for the Order of Preachers

It can also used for OP as in Operation like grey op, white op and black op
