Some ideas for improvements to the TF2 inventory system/display:

1) An inventory sort, either by class or type.

2) An ability to hide untradable items.

3) Stacking of multiples/duplicates

When seeing your inventory on steam, the strange weapons show up as unusual/purple.

Neither of these appear to be working in the OS X version of the client.

Items painted with Team Spirit shows up as they are painted with black paint.
Strange weapons have the purple/unusual border around them.

As a programmer I highly doubt that. The possible reason for this is that once TF2 completes a trade, it asks the central TF2 servers for the latest version of your inventory. That's why your items appear instantly when you trade in-game. But with an out-of-game trade, TF2 doesn't know to check for updates by itself. If Valve added a "Refresh Inventory" button it would solve this. Or they could have Steam let the game itself know that the inventory has changed.

In any case, that is a definite bug and not an intended effect.

Need an option to delete tags, also if you guys added a custom nickname option for renaming your friends that would be great.

Who can see my items?

Your inventory obeys your existing regular privacy settings – public, friends only, friends of friends, or private.
Any chance this gets a seperate setting in the privacy options anytime soon or atleast an option to accept/decline a request by another user to see your tradeable stuff?

While I haven't had a problem with my profile being public, I really don't want to let any Jack and Joe see my giftable/tradeable games unless I actually want to trade something, so my profile instantly went to friends-only. :/

This is great! The best feature so far is that Valve finally fixed names being cut off in chat windows.

The downside: It doesn't work with the skin I was using and now I have to use the default skin.

The new friends list sorting thing seems to break skins, I've tried it with PixelVision and Apparition and everything seems to be crammed into the top left corner in the friends list.

Apparently I cannot see pending friend requests in the Friends window anymore (just opted into the Steam Beta a few minutes ago).

I can see invites that have been sent to me followed by my friend list but I no longer see a list of people I have sent a friend request to (who have not yet accepted/denied the offer).

Also, shouldn't accessing one's inventory force pending drops (not from random drop system) to be added into the backpack?

I noticed that none of the promo items that I would have received during my hiatus were inserted into my backpack in a similar way to how visiting the in-game store does (I haven't played since December due to hardware issues and would have received several of the items, had I played since then, including but not limited to items from spacechem, plants vs zombies, quake 4, and a few others).

If it influences it in any way, I don't have TF2 currently installed to save disk space on this machine (although I doubt it affects it since it's all handled on the steam servers and not my machine).

Steam gift tabs bug

When I view my own inventory I see 2 steam tabs next to my tf2 items tab. Now I currently have 2 gift of portal. A friend of mine had 3 gifts and had 3 steam tabs so I guess that there are as much tabs as the amount of gift you have for trade.

EDIT: I also can't make trade invites or accept them.
Might be due to me having 2 steam betas: steam trade + dawn of war retribution.

I hope this could have been of help.
Now have fun debugging ^^

Bug: The user's identity panel in the Friends window acts like a friend panel from the list below. If this is intended, you should undo it seeing as creating a hover effect for something that is not clickable (the background) is counter-intuitive and tricks the user.

Feedback
This is something I didn't expect, but do find as a very good idea, to make trades made from the forums faster and easier. It takes a long time to drag and drop an item to the chat, and it's a bit gimmick to drag the item, down to the chat to make it pop up, and place it in the chat to see the text [item] to pop up, which doesn't identify which item you selected.

Pros: It's harder to scam people, it's easier to verify your items before trading.

Cons: It takes longer time to use than trading inside TF2 (when trading TF2 items)

Improvements: Make it somehow easier to drag'n'drop items to the chat (it doesn't even have to be drag'n'drop, it can also just be a select to place in chat). And make an easier identification on items you place in the chatbox to give it a name which is easy to identify (such as [TF2Nametag] [TF2Football_Helmet] ETC.

The idea: It's a great idea to do this. I don't know if it's intended also to make games for items trades, which prevents a lot of scams, and that's an improvement. I really like it.

Just some feedback to build some more on the new trading feature.
