Really messed up, it did this last night too...
Edit: I changed the language to German for TF2 and now it's downloading 9756.3 MBs for TF2... which I highly doubt is just the German content.

There is a crash regarding friends tag manipulation in the most recent beta update - we're updating it again right now with a fix, which should be rolled out within the hour. Thanks.

I was about to post a crash, I added a new tag, then wanted to remove it then crashed.

Thanks for the update.

I still think there is no reason to show the Groups tab when there are no any groups.

BUG

For some reason this beta prohibits me from viewing the store via steam, viewing the store while logged into steam in my web-browser still functions (with beta fetaures too)

It will show the loading icon briefly (0.5s) then go away, it is simply showing black.

here is the source of the webpage I am viewing according to the steam client (http://store.steampowered.com/)
Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"><html><head>

The item inventory still needs to reflect the same organization as the in-game backpack. The current sort (oldest-newest) is useless.

BUG

I cleaned my friends list after joining the beta, and two people whom I removed from my friends list were still in it, under the names "[unknown](1)" and "[unknown](2)".

I have now added them to my friends list again. I will wait until they accept, explain why I did so, and remove them again to see if this fixes the problem.

I just tried it out and it appears to be working.

BUG

The beta occasionally fails to shut down for me, but it doesn't really seem to be reproducible and I don't know what's causing it.
It just sits there in the process list, otherwise invisible and never closes, e.g. after changing a setting that requires Steam's restart.

By the way: Thank you for finally fixing the "View Details" bug ... you have no idea how much that annoyed me!

Few bugs:
  • The last made tag doesn't save the collapsed/un-collapsed state and resets each restart of Steam.
  • Same thing as above for Groups. Not sure if bug or maybe a suggestion. I'll list it as a bug for now.
  • Steam seems to have a hit another memory leak. Small one, but it's there. My Steam goes from its initial 16MB usage to 120MB after a couple of hours playing a non-steam game (League of Legends).
Suggested improvements:
  • When dragging an item when linking, the focus of the chat-window is lost. It's kinda annoying. Not losing focus or finding a way to easier link without losing the chat-window focus would be better.
  • Put the tabs Friends and Groups on the same level as your avatar/nickname/status to save up some space.
  • Have an option where you can edit your tags in terms of name. Currently you got to remove one, then remake it and retag. Would save time for an edit function.
Future suggestion:
  • Be able to custom name a friend. Sometimes I lose track how somebody is called with their bloody name changes.
Keep up the good work!

Not related to Steam at all...

Just wanted to get this out there before you disappear again. Thank you for bringing (along with Robin, of course) Team Fortress into the world. That is all.

I can't successively load a new tab in the ingame steam browser. Anyone else have this issue? Windows 7 64 bit here.

Friend drop-down menu options are different from friends list to chat box. When chatting with a friend, there is no option to set tag or notification options or view aliases.

When chatting, I found that a friend and I played another game that I didn't know before; however, to add him to that category in my friends list, I had to navigate to my friends list window to do so, as that option is absent from the chat box. Can this be added? It would make the UI a big more friendly and allow users to more readily notice those options, rather than having them hid in only one specific location. The new features, like tagging, would be used more if more people were able to see them, without already knowing they exist.
