Fallout New Vegas is always updating
Every time I open Steam, it will update FNV, forcing it to download a 2GB update. Are there any new fixes yesterday or last week that I wasn't able to download? Or is my launcher broken?

Same thing here, whenever I log off my account New Vegas starts downloading again...
This makes things more annoying since my internet downloads @ 200kbps, so I'm looking at a 3 to 4h download everyday. |

Mine does the same thing aswell, at least for the past month or so.
Every now and then, through the Steam Client it states that F:NV has to download a 8 (yes, eight) GB update. However, it stops at just over 1GB, stating that the download is complete, and I can then play the game. If it helps, I have all the current DLC's (D.M, H.H, O.W.B) however I have not subscribed to the current steam trading beta. For me, the fact that it downloads only 1GB suggests its a problem with one of the DLC's, definately didn't happen when I only had D.M, but since I later purchased and installed both H.H and O.W.B at the same time, I could be either of them. Perhaps a file verification error? If anyone's got any theories, lets hear them as I'm sure there are people out there who get the same (if not, similar) problem. |

Well i had the same problem (keeps downloading a 3.5 GB everytime i restart steam) and went with support (i actually had similar problems with several other games).
After doing this https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...2971-RUAG-7390 (this fixed some games that kept updating) and submiting my MSINFO32 report they gave me the following instructions: ----------------------------------------------------------------- Hello ----------, Please try resetting Winsock and TCP/IP to their original state. First, please create a System Restore point: Windows XP: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...emrestore.mspx Windows Vista/7: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...fb3f01033.mspx Once completed, please try the following steps: Windows XP: Click Start > Run, type "cmd" then press Enter. Windows Vista/7: Click Start > All Programs > Accessories, then right-click Command Prompt and select "Run as administrator." In the command prompt, enter the following commands: netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset reset.log When these steps are completed, please reboot and re-test the issue. If you have trouble after completing these steps you may use your System Restore point to roll back. Please let us know if you have any further questions. ----------------------------------------------------------------- The game is not downloading all time ATM (has been 2 days, aprox. 4 steam restarts). Hopefully this will help some of you guys! |

I've got a theory to test with this:
At the moment, I am a TF2 player, which is of course on Steam. My brother owns a seperate Steam account which also owns TF2. Both accounts also own Fallout New Vegas. My version of New Vegas owns all the current DLC's (Dead Money, Honest Hearts and Old World Blues), whereas my brother's account only owns Dead Money. I use my brother's account to get some extra items from the TF2 item system for my main account (after all, he isn't using them). He is ok with this arrangement. Therefore my theory is this: Is the difference in the Fallout New Vegas games from one account to the other causing the game files to not be verified properly, and thus the Steam client attempts to redownload them? |
