$7.50 for a decent mmo where you get a month for free and the full game is a no brainer, good price.
($14.99 reoccurring subscription required after the first month but I highly doubt 90% of the people who buy this will get their second month) - The game is slow (animations/heals/anything isn't instant) - There is a lot of grinding involved, still. - You can fly, but barely anywhere. - Sometimes bosses don't drop items, still. - PvP is a joke (everyone just runs in and out of battle) - The economy is borked. - The customization of weapons with colors and models is limited! I made a review about this game the first month when it was released and after grueling my way up to level 50, I just stopped playing. The animations/pvp/customization are what really let me down, every attack I made felt like an effort for my character and normally took 3-5 seconds before getting off making fast pace combat a no no.(So help me if I have to compare to WoW PvP but it is better) If your bored for the month, give Aion a try - every mmo player should at least try it. It was a good mmo for the first couple months it was out but now its really just a joke. |

Heh, from the sound of it. People would be better saving their money. Or if you want an MMO you can play within a month, buy STO. Its in a lot better shape now than it was at launch and actually fun.

I played this for a month. I stopped playing after my free month, it was just a complete grind fest. Call me a loser but I still find World of Warcraft as the better MMO and I've tried a lot of them.

When 'Tabula Rasa' died, NCSOFT apologized by giving all of the subscribers a free copy of the Aion collector's edition and an invite into the Aion beta. That was a classy thing for NCSOFT to do and I will always think highly of them for it.
Unfortunately, Aion was not the MMO I was looking for, and I cancelled my subscription before the free month ran out. (That said, I really enjoyed my time in beta... somewhere I have a screenshot of the final moment where the last players gathered into a circle with all their wings unfurled (wingtip to wingtip) while other players danced in the middle. They were an awesome beta community!) Aion does have a lot of good features, but having so many zones that flying does not work, and so much grind, are what killed it for me. I'm a veteran of over 35 MMO's, so perhaps I'm just jaded now and it takes a lot more to impress me, or maybe I'm just tired of MMO's in general... maybe I should switch to an activity that provides actual fresh air and sunshine... and BBQs. Agreed, I played in the Aion Beta and we had a guild of thirty players all prepped for launch. Unfortunately my experiences taught me two things:
1. Never trust the word of a WoW player that they're done playing WoW - our guild officers and our guild leader were all from WoW and they all went back to WoW within a month of each other, killing off our guild. 2. When a Korean MMO developer tells you that there's no grind in their game what they really mean is that there's tons of grind in their game and you shouldn't expect to quest your way to each level in the slightest. Holy Crap - Serious thread necro. Apologies. |
