MI1:SE bug, no verb list

Hello, got some problem with the secret of monkey island (special edition). It starts as normal and everything seems to work, except when I try to open the verb list all that happens is that my screen turns darker and I get the normal windows cursor but no verbs.

Googled a bit but did not find anything related to this. I have tried to disable visual themes and change compatibility-mode, but the problem remains.

Windows: 7 (64bit)
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
CPU: Intel core Duo T7500 2.2 Ghz (x2)
RAM: 4 GB

Thankful for any help.

EDIT:
Fixed the problem by installing new drivers for the video card and then starting a new game (When loading a previous save the problem remained).
