Strange Area in The Ancient Path/Into the monkeys mouth

Well, this confuses me.

The last area in "The Ancient Path" has hotspots to trigger treebraches with the green energy.

After excessive jumping antics, I managed to trigger the first one, left via the following jungle section, started again from the beginning to be up the cliff again (on the right side at the bottom ist a walljump, put it catapults me nowhere useful at the moment/not back up) and finally made it past the cliff via the tree branches "into the monkeys mouth". In there is nothing but swichtes. I think I hit all of them once. But I don't know what to do next and what this is all abaout...

Is the cave that opens the one that has a skill pick up? I think it's spear mastery. Nothing else? Seems like there's about twenty switches in Monkey's Mouth. I thought there'd be some new path opening or something like that.
