func_vehicle - an open letter to the CS:GO team
Dear Developers of CS:GO,
Fans have raised many questions and concerns about the recently announced new CS game. People are talking about what they like, what they dislike, what they think of the weapon models, map updates, and so on. But there is one key feature being overlooked that I would like to bring to your attention and that is func_vehicle. Simply put you need to bring func_vehicle back with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive! CS:GO needs it, the world needs it. Here is your chance to redeem yourself after mistakenly leaving this entity out of CS:S. I assume it was a mistake because to intentionally leave out such an essential part of Counter-Strike would just be downright silly. When people think back to the original Counter-Strike they think of multi-level driveable vehicles made out of brushwork. Everything else was just secondary to the brilliance of low-poly vehicles being driven off of cliffs and through walls. VALVe you have the power to change the video gaming world with CS:GO. All you need to do is leave one little brush-based entity in the game. The decision to leave func_vehicle in the original Counter-Strike, even though the APC was removed from cs_siege, was the greatest decision you ever made. Do you realize that with the Half-life 1 engine megacrazycar was the tallest func_vehicle I was able to make? Think of how much taller I could go with the Source engine! All that extra grid space is dieing to be filled with bigger and crazier crazytanks! What would the driveable Ents in isengard_battle look like with 1024x1024 resolution textures? That is a question the video gaming world needs to know the answer to. Imagine func_vehicles full of physics barrels having molotovs thrown at them, or tazering someone in the face as they drive their go-cart off a ramp into your fort. Think of the Possibilities! I urge everyone out there who is a fan of CS to let the CS:GO developers know WE WANT FUNC_VEHICLE! Because Counter-Strike just isn’t Counter-Strike without func_vehicle. Sincerely, NIPPER |

Definitely support.
Valve also said they are supposed to be updating the SDK tools a while back (e.g. make it more user friendly, etc.), which sounds great. |

I remember way back when I played CS when I was like 10, most fun I ever had in that was the AS map where CTs got a ship they had to drive to the end and the Ts got helicopters and boats to attack it.

This is an issue that needs community support!
I am writing my local elected officials in the hopes of getting some sort of legislation passed that makes it illegal to name a game "Counter-Strike" if custom map makers can't make brush-based vehicles in it. I also I made a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0miEWSBgec |
