Can't run demo: "Steam.dll is missing"

Trying to run the demo but I keep getting this error: "The program can't start because Steam.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I've verified the cache, downloaded the demo a dozen times, ran in compatibility mode, etc. Nothing works. I only get this error if I attempt to run 'RoboGame' or 'RoboLaunch' from the Binaries folder, running it from Steam doesn't even give me the error. There's just nothing. The process will show up in Task Manager and then disappear a second later. No error, no nothing. I exceed the recommended requirements.

Specs:
i5 520M @ 2.4GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 1GB
4GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit

This is the ONLY game I have installed that gives me this error and the ONLY game where I've ever even seen this error. Everything else works just fine.

The demo didn't work for me either, but the full-version does.

Btw, it's on sale with 4 (or more) other games right now on Indie Gala (http://www.indiegala.com/). There's a limited number of these bundles being sold, and each bundle comes with a number of music albums too.
