Dual core crash fix
I posted before about my game crashing lots at random (usually when saving or loading which was a pain).
I remembered a workaround for another game I had which crashed lots because it couldn't handle dual core and tried it with Call of Cthulhu. Haven't had a crash since! If you were having the same problem all you need to do is download RunFirst ( http://www.activeplus.com/Products/RunFirst ) and paste the .exe file in your game folder. Then go to Start > Run and run the Runfirst.exe before the CoCMainWin32.exe as follows:- "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Call of Cthulhu DCoTE\Engine\RunFirst.exe" "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Call of Cthulhu DCoTE\Engine\CoCMainWin32.exe" Yours will probably be the same but may be different depending on where you chose to save your game. It's fixed a couple of my older games which refused to work on dual core so I hope it can help some of you out (with this game or others). I'm glad I'm managing to play the game now without crash frustration! |
