Unreal 3 Engine

Was this engine designed for PC, consoles, or multiplatform?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unreal_engine_3

Edit due to wonderful people:

I am not trolling. There are some engines designed for PC then ported to console and vice versa. I am asking this question because I heard there is a big problem with optimization in the Unreal 3 Engine. One person posted that Epic Games is able tp optimize it, but other games have an issue with it.

Thank you for all the patient people here.

Edit 2:

What I want to know is if the engine was designed more with console in mind, PC in mind, or a balance for multiplatform.

How is he blind? He's asking about the engine, not the game itself.

I don't get it... are you serious here?

I think he was asking if he was blind because the OP posted the link to the WIKI page for the engine that states in the first paragraph (i think) that it's multiplatfrom... lol

Now for the real question:

Are you blind?

Lots of people in game have said they are canceling which makes me feel better about opting out of this $40 nightmare.

Ignore Thunderstruk. He stopped playing a few days ago but still hangs around to spread hate.

To answer the actual question;

I think the engine was initially developed for PC and ported to console (as mentioned, games like GoW use it on Xbox 360 etc). Think of the Unreal Tournament games and that is where each new engine generally originates. Unreal Tournament (forgive me if I'm wrong) has always, to my knowledge, been PC exclusive which definitely reinforces my belief of PC engine being ported to console and not the other way around.

The problem with the optimization doesn't lie with the particular game developers entirely, rather their decsion to enhance the engine visually and/or in terms of physics content etc. This is the path that TWI chose to take and have run into a couple of performance issues (that I think they're working on?) here and there. Comparing this to the standard issue DX9 UE3 initial release, the visual differences are relatively obvious.

Also a note; on console games using the UE3 engine, they generally suffer a lot of texture issues and framerate hiccups, once again leading me to believe it was ported to console later.

Hope this answers your question OP.

EDIT: When I mention performance issues, I'm not being overly blunt about those facts. I for one have no issues whatsoever maxing the game out smoothly, however there has been a lot of complaints from others around the forums of performance problems and I read an update somewhere from the devs themselves saying that they are working on improving it.
