Dirt 3 leaked keys

I was at a steam giveaway thread on /v/ and got a free Dirt 3 key, later someone posted a link to a pastebin with thousands of dirt 3 keys. Apparently the key I got was part of the leak...will I get banned?!

You might considering the key's themselves are illegal. They were legit until some hacker got them and listed them for any/all to use.

Pretty much using the code IS stealing. Contact steam support now and tell them you didn't know they were stolen codes and ask them to remove Dirt 3 from your account ASAP. With luck valve won't decide to ban your account for good.

In anycase this is highly illegal and just plain wrong.

DiRT 3 keys? What's going on?

A txt of leaked about 1000 keys is floating around the 'net. In a hurry I went and redeemed a key but I'm now getting concerned since I have no idea where they came from or if they're even legal.

So what's going on with this? Can anyone enlighten me as to the origin of these keys? Do people redeeming this run the risk of being banned?

Do you always stick your finger in the wall socket just to see what will happen even if you have been warned? Nothing is free in this world brother. Say a little prayer that your account is not suspended.

I am not sure of the origin, I saw the list on /v/ at a steamgifts thread. In earlier posts people were giving away DiRT keys, I redeemed one only to find out it was from the leak. Hopefully it will just be removed from my account and I don't get banned.

Simply said: You're screwed if you registered a CD Key that's been made public and you will get your account suspended.

A NeoGAF thread said they originally came from some AMD contest but the entire list was leaked. It's a bit uncertain at this point whether or not they're counted as "legit".

At any rate, it's not like I got a hold of the list through some shady warez site. There are hundreds of times where a list of 20 or so keys are given out in a promotional site, and my source was trustworthy enough to make it seem that way. Since free legit keys last about 2 seconds without being redeemed on the 'net, it was a shoot-first-ask-questions-later deal.

E-mailing support now requesting the game to be removed from my account. These keys are most certainly bad news.

Not necessarily. Plenty of publishers hand out free keys to their games.

There's a txt of 1000 leaked serials and you think it's legit? Come on.

Because all those keys were leaked by publishers, right?
