Using a VPN to unlock is against any rules?

Is using a USA proxy to get the early release date illegal or against any rules? I can't find anything about this in the TOS.

Would like some clarification on this myself.

I haven't had any problems with it but it might seem weird that you move to US really fast and then back again.

So if you unlock the games files you can then come off the proxy and play it from your area even though it's not released?

Yes, the vpn logs off after a few minutes, but if you stay in game, when it logs off, you can play as much as you want.

Or:

You can decrypt, create a steam_appid with the game number, then you can play it without VPN, you jsut have to go to the folder the game was downloaded too.

BINGO! unlock game/stick steam into offline mode/profit

No need for offline, when you can stay online. Unless you prefer offline for some reason.

You would have to stay offline in Steam. You go online using the proxy, unlock the game, go offline and stay offline if you wanna play the game.

Steam will say the game is unavailable if you try to run it online.

Hmm, I use steam chat and such quite a lot. That said I'd normally just wait but it's my sister's wedding this weekend and it's a pretty busy affair. I'll wait and see how I feel.

Guys, i have a friend who did this for Deus Ex: Human Revolution and his account is perfectly fine so this should be fine, be warned though that if you use a VPN and then go and buy a game Valve can terminate your account, since its tax fraud.

Just dont buy anything with a proxy running ;p

I dunno about proxies, but with a US VPN, you can stay online after decrypting.

Don't count on it because they don't support Proxies or VPN together with Steam.
