Fix for the audio crackling/static

Goto the directory:

Code:

<Username>\Documents\DeadIsland\out\Settings

Open: "Audio.scr" with a text editor and:

Change:

Code:

API("XAudio2")

To:

Code:

API("aOpenAL")

Also for those having issues with the refresh rate try opening: "Video.scr" and:

Change:

Code:

MaxRefresh(60)

To Example:

Code:

MaxRefresh(120)

Yeah what?

That directory takes me to two .scr files labeled Video and Audio.

What do I open them with?

Opening it with Notepad will work.

If you can't open it change it into a .txt file then when you finish editing it change it back to .scr

Still the fix didn't work for me...

Try notepad++ if in doubt. It opens a lot of ♥♥♥♥.

Whne I right clock it doesn't show "open with" option and when I open notepad and search for the file it doesn't show up.

Open Notepad and just drag the file inside of it.

maybe? lol. i had fixed it just by restartign several times...but then it came back. so far so good.

I change my Computer's Sound Setting to 5.1 Speakers and it fixed everything.
