Fix for Dead Island Stopped Working here...

Hey I've seen a good number of people having this issue when you run the game it never start and just says:

dead island stopped working

Well I've had this issue with other steam games and had it with this one too. Here's what I did to fix it:

go to:
Crogram files/steam/steamapps/common/dead island/redist/directx
(or wherever your steam dead island install is)

Within that folder you should find DXSETUP.exe

Double click/run that file and I'm guessing that will take care of a majority of those problems as I did it on 2 or 3 steam games so far when they wouldn't run after the initial install. I don't know why this happens.

Heh... i would have posted this yesterday but steam wouldn't let me post for the last 24 hours for some reason. Hope that helps.

I actually do know the fix for this what you need to do go to your steamfolder and locate your deadisland folder under your program files/steam/steamapps/common/deadisland/DI/data and locate the game.ini file open it and scroll down till you locate locale("En") and change it to locale("en") and then save it and close it then it should run just fine! Hope this works for you as I had this exact same issue!

No.

But if people crash when they are starting the game, try this:
1: Verify integrity of cache (very important)
2: Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dead island\DI\Data
3: Find 'game.cfg' and open it in notepad
4: Find Locale("En")
5: Replace "En" with "en" (not capitalized)

start the game

Dude, you're not the only one in that situation.

There's thousands of people with the same problem. But you can do what other people did, start a new game.

how do you disable steam beta?

the game played fine for me until i beat it. now after the opening cinema the game crashes to desktop on the black load screen thats says "please wait" in the bottom right corner. i have tried several fixes and nothing has worked. i tried changing the EN to en. i defragged the game files, verified the integrity of the game cache. nothing works. i cant play the game now. i want to try "disable steam beta" but cant figure out how to do it.

You go to steam - options and on the first tab, second last section should ask you if you wish to use Steam beta or not, you can chose from the drop-down menu to opt in or opt out.
