Dead Island says "Preparing to Launch" but never does
Installed Dead Island successfully via steam, when I click to play Dead Island I get the box that says "Preparing to Launch Dead Island" the box goes away but nothing else happens. I can play other games through steam with no problem, such as L4D2.
I am using Win7 x64 and AVG Internet Security. Things I have tried: Re-installing Dead Island Re-installing Steam Verified integrity of game cache Verified that Steam is listed on my firewall list of applications Disabling Firewall Removing AVG Internet Security Called the mfg of Dead Island and they said this would have to be a Steam issue. Any help would greatly be appreciated. |

Have you checked your graphics card drivers are up-to-date with the latest versions?

The PC has been rebooted several times and all graphics drivers are up to date.
I can run other games through Steam, just not Dead Island. It says it is launching but never does. I dont even get an error message. |

Okay, just in case you are not aware, there is a dedicated forum section for this game here:
Forum Section: Game Discussions: Dead IslandIt is the first place to search through in case other Steamers have had the same issue and resolved it. There is also this to try: Steam KB/FAQ: Games do not run after 'Preparing to Launch' Last edited by B33 ENN: 09-07-2011 at 07:07 PM. |

ISSUE RESOLVED I ended up uninstalling directx 11 and the C++ that was installed by the game from the steam download. I then reinstalled them directly from microsoft. This fixed the issue and I was able to launch the game.........
