5 Maps in MP?

Don't have the game yet, but I've read there are only 5 maps for mp? Is this correct? Please tell me devs aren't starting to charge $50 for an 8 our sp and a mp with only 5 maps. It can't be so.

Relic is known for supporting their games and not want to split the community, so I'd assume they'll bring free Map Content Updates once in a while.
Also, Free Coop DLC coming later this month etc.
They've already stated they want to do more maps.

But honestly, 5 maps are fine for now. They'll let you get used to the game, get familiar with the maps etc. They're somehow all kinda unique and make you use different classes and setups due to different terrain.
Believe me, you'll have more fun getting to learn how to use your surroundings effectively than seeing a new map every match and forget all about it soon after.

The 5 maps are better than the 15 or 16 maps you'll get from Call of Duty. Speaking of Call of Duty, the single player is also x2 as long and x4 as awesome

I actually like the small starting selection of maps, assuming they plan on adding another 5 or so in coming weeks/months.

I would compare it to Battlefiled Heroes
4 Maps on the startingtime... AND IT WAS LOADS OF FUN!

There will be more, you can count on it; games like this always start with a limited number, then build up as they go along (not to mention DLC).

If they had devoted more time to making tons of maps for release, then the game would not have been out this side of Christmas, and I suspect that would have irked many more people than the lack of maps.

TBH, unless this game get servers (and soon), once it stops being the shiny new toy, it will be quickly forgotten. Nothing kills MP games faster than Lag and Lack of Content. (Which is a damn shame, because it's a pretty fun game)

It's not as bad as it sounds to be honest. It looks like a small amount on paper but your play experience can vary drastically on each map depending on your chosen class.

For the most part they are complex with a lot of room for vertical movement allowing assault marines to utilize high ground and such which adds an interesting element to the game when you come across the occasional assault marine who doesn't splooge his grenades on a suicide charge with a one hit weapon but attacks with an actual strategy.

The maps are generally quite large but some are spacious allowing players to see across the map giving significant advantage to certain weapons while others are in tight corridors which completely shifts the balance to closer ranged weapons. This might sound standard but I mention it because it feels more extreme than in other games but it really works and helps it feel like there's variety.

I hope they add a few more in the future, preferably a few free ones before a map pack (if they must release a map pack ever) but we'll have to wait and see on that.

very true... but will uk steam be allowed to post any DLC.. even after the release date, the only place to mention the game on steam, is this forum! bet that kills it quickly in the uk too... who ever it is blocking this game from being released on steam, is treating the british consumer with the usual level of loyalty to the british consumer base....

how many servers do you see that are DE-DUST only, Facing Worlds only, Two Fort only ?

map is largely irrelevant imo, its the game that will make or break itself
