Exclamation How to: Enable v-sync

Go to: C:\Users\Username\Documents\DeadIsland\out\Setting s

1. Open Video.scr with notepad
2. Add the line VSync() below MaxRefresh(60) at line 41 or so.

You are done! Now my fps is capped at 60 fps in-game no matter what.

  1. Go to:
    Code:
    C:\Users\Username\Documents\DeadIsland\out\Settings
  2. Open Video.scr with notepad
  3. Look for the line
    Code:
    !VSync()               // enable vertical sync
    and change it into
    Code:
    VSync()               // enable vertical sync
    and save the file
  4. rightclick the file Video.scr and select "properties" in the dialog that will popup near the bottom where it says "Atributes" you turn on the box that says "Read-only" and then you click "Apply" this prevents the game from editing the file again.

Wouldn't leaving it to !VSync() leave it to your monitors default refresh rate?

yes if your monitor supports a higher rate then 60Hertz most likely you not not require V-sync and it will just cause issues.

ok I feel stupid, but I can't figure out how to open the file. I can find it, but there is no option to "open with". What am I doing wrong?

You can drag and drop it into a blank notepad.
