Received this email from support@steampowered.com...
Quote:
First I read this mail, I noticed "Account Steam" was not sounding too well. Second, this link is totally a scam, the domain does NOT end at "steampowered.com" Third, IT'S SO NOTICEABLE to see it's scamming at full throttle, asking for E-mail Address and E-mail Password. PLEASE Steam Support, REPORT to every STEAM user of this issue. Last edited by toxiclovept: 09-11-2011 at 07:03 PM. |

Was the sender actually @steampowered.com ? That can be faked.
And remove the link. |

Wow, that isn't even a good attempt at phishing.

You should take out that free game link so people dont click it.
And to everyone else, if you got an email you think is fake, just scroll over all the links with your mouse, then look in the bottom left corner of your browser for the actual place it takes you. Say if the link says "Steampowered.com", but when you scroll over it and it says "Steam.powered.blah.lolhax.com" chances are its a fake email trying to log ur keez. So dont click it. Edit: and even if you get an email, dont click the links. Just type it into your browser. That way you are guaranteed to not ever get hacked! yay Last edited by guthan333911: 09-11-2011 at 06:53 PM. |

You need to find out what Steam game site you have your email address registered to and remove it. You should not have the email address registered to your Steam account posted anywhere, ever.

Double AND Triple-Checked.
Real E-mail. http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/3127/realwg.jpg EDIT; I haven't made it, I already took notice it was scam. But @steampowered.com, wow... I don't, but I HAD a Steam account registered at this email, don't own it anymore. Gave to my sister, but receiving steam emails to this email... whoa. I can't tell from that screenshot what email program or host you're using...Hotmail? Outlook? Either way it should have an option to display full email headers lurking around somewhere. |

None of those links have https, meaning they're all unsecured and fake.

Beaten like a red headed step child to the header thing, but you might wanna remove your e-mail address from there (8th from the bottom)
![]() Also for all intents and purposes, that's supposed to be a genuine smiley, not a "derp" face. |
