Starwars on Blu-ray
Starwars - bluray version was released today here in the UK. Has anyone bought the set and are the extras worth buying the full collection for. And how does the quality stand out on bluray, does it look like a new movie that has just been made ?
Im not interesting in the prequels only the original movies (starwars, empire and jedi) but what I really want is the making of Starwars, The Empire Strikes Back: SPFX and Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi as the basic package doesn't include these. I can remember watching the making of Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi one christmas time back in the 1980s. |

How did they do Yoda? Was it a kid in a costume with voice over? Also, I watched a rip of the HD version and it looked great, kind of took away for me though as every little detail stood out as looking like a budget prop. HD will do that I guess.

George Lucas has the amazing ability to strip away cinema magic from not only everything he does...But now from even the good things that he has done... It's pretty impressive when you think about it.

Here's a copy-paste of what I said about the video I posted:
I think a true artist would stand by his or her art, regardless of when it was made or anything else. He would believe that what he made decades ago was an accurate reflection of his abilities and his resources at that time, even if it's not what he would do now. By making continuous changes, Lucas makes himself appear uncommitted to any one vision, and thus reduces the vitality of Star Wars as a whole. |

In any case, that's what you get when someone becomes too influential. No one dares to oppose Lucas, so he keeps doing his thing. The original movies would probably look quite different if he had that power back then. |

So that's what that commercial was about!
I saw a commercial yesterday about Star Wars but only the last scene told you what the commercial was selling and it flashed by so quick that it left me wondering... I won't buy it because blue-ray doesn't do a thing for me. With my vision I can't really tell the difference between SD and HD. |

I'm not buying the original trilogy again until I can get it decent quality without the stupid musical number in Jabba's palace.

I take it that I am the only buying a Blu-Ray player just for it?

Regardless of what conservative Hammer Legion Members say about it, watching these movies in 1080p on a bigass HDTV with DS 6.1 blasting must be an awesome experience.
I cringe at some of the changes/additions though. Specially the krayt dragon call. |

At this point, I am convinced that George Lucas is just trolling the people that made him filthy rich... Is it difficult to find the unedited originals on DVD? Do they even exist? As it was all downhill after ep.1-3 came out... |
