Crashing if I try to join a server (MP)

I bought the game
singleplayer works fine but i'm a real multiplayer type of guy
when I try to join a server it loads, when I connect I see "loading"
after a few seconds it crashes
I deleted local content and am downloading it again now to reinstall. if this doesn't fix it, anybody have some ideas what might be it?

I got Windows XP SP3 and my pc is powerfull enough to play it.

Kind regards, Darastus

Keep trying. Sometimes it just CTDs for some reason, and then works later. Shouldn't take more than a few tries. If it persists on a particular server, then joining another server should work fine.

For me it crashes sometimes when its loading the server list. But the worse issue i have is the game loosing focus and returning to desktop every time i press space, alt or tab.
A full reboot is the only fix

I have found a solution, this only works when your game crashes when it is loading a map in multiplayer

In the ROengine.ini go down to [Engine.ISVHacks] and turn these from false to true.

bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True

PumpWindowMessagesWhenRenderThreadStalled=True

I tried that and it's working fine now.

You can find the ROengine.ini in My Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ROGame\Config

Also this is not a fix for the server browser, it's suppose to be a fix for when you are already joining a server and it crashes during the map loading.

It worked for me

Nope didn't work, I'm still crashing when the loading finishes and the zoomed out map first appears.
