Comparison to Mount & Blade: Warband?
I know it's not a combat game like Warband is, but is it a similar type of sandbox?

Well... Not really. There really aren't many comparisons besides historical strategy. Warband is a rpg, while Sengoku is a strategy. They have real time game play in common, on the map and such. Nothing too much more though.

Lol... If you think they will be similar because they are published by Paradox... not at all. M&B is developed by Taleworlds, Sengoku was developed internally by Paradox.
Sengoku's combat system is very similar to risk, with random number generation and soldier count being the determining factor. Sengoku is also a hardcore sim/stratagy game and M&B is an action game with a stategic map. If you played any of Paradox's other sim/stratagies, it's similar, although IMO better for a beginner. Anyway, I'm not saying you won't like it, but it's got almost nothing in common with Mount and Blade. Try the demo, idk if it's on steam but you can find it online, and make your own decision. If your like me, you'll find yourself not wanting to quit the demo, making the purchase of Sengoku an easy decision.
