Unhappy All of the sudden, DeathSpank keeps on crashing!!

Yes, been playing the game for some weeks now. W7 64bit and a very stable system that runs evey other game flawless. But, today 3 - 5 mins into the game it crashes over and over...

what the heck can it be?

I'm having the same problem. All my other non-steam games work fine, I have a similar system to you in Vista. I've been playing it for 3 days, 14 hours of game play, I faced 2 crashes in the third day, but the game still ran. Then I left for a while. When I came back and it just started crashing to desktop, over and over...

I wish I knew what it was. My guess, a glitch/bug. There's another thread on here, which gives some answers to this problem.

Verify your files... Seems like it worked for me.

If anyone is having this crash on startup problem, try validating your files through steam. After I did that it fired up and seems to be good.

I'll update if there's more to know.

How do you validate the files, wholly? I'm having this problem as well, it seems to occur as soon as I save a game in Strumfuquel. As it is now, I've two saved games at about 50% completion which I can do nothing with.

I found out how to validate the files, but the game keeps crashing as I try and open it. Is there anything else I can try?

1) In your game directory, find the following file: GameData-000001000.gg
2) Back up that file by removing it to some other directory
3) Place this file in the game directory instead:

4) Try your save games from the World War II area that are failing to load and see if you are good to go now. Please report back here if it has addressed the issue (or not) for your situation.

Thanks for your help. It tested fine here in-house but we only had a few test cases and yours may be different.
