Weapon damage in FPS games seems to be broken by default. In most cases, it seems like it happens way too quickly and proves to be more of an annoyance than a real asset, so that being removed is disappointing but not surprising. Given that games that have had weapon damage for decades, such as the elder scrolls, is removing them I think the concept is dead.

Regenerating health, for much the same reason, just seems to be how things are handled now. I've always liked Medal of honor: Airbornes system, along with FC2's way of handling it, since it gave you the best of both worlds. You no longer had the issue of the game turning into you having practically no health and you couldn't rely on the regeneration (nor does the game get to use bull tactics that rely on regeneration to control gameplay, ala Call of duty's cover system).

One thing that really bothered me in one of the trailers (aside from the wub wub) was what appeared to be markers showing where people were firing from. That is just some awful game design right there.

I did laugh pretty hard at the bomb sequence in the ship, the timing of that was great, I applaud the game for having a sense of humor compared to best iterations complete stoicism.
