Windows 8 Developer Release and Steam
Does anyone use these two together? I'm pretty interested in trying out Windows 8 but I'm also pretty tied to my Steam account. I'd be concerned with general playability since it's such an early release.

Yes it works, but it's a developers release. Do not use it as a Main OS. Your best choice is to use Windows 8 w/ virtual machine software to try it out. You'll bring nothing but problems using a Dev Build for a main OS.

many things doesn't work on it yet, and I bet a lot of games won't work either. So I wouldn't recommend using it even if Steam does work.

I would not suggest playing with any beta operating system in anything other than a sandbox environment for your own benefit. The suggestions noted earlier to use a virtual machine are ideal for this although that is generally going to mean you won't be able to test out gaming, at least with anything approaching normal system performance. Personally, I won't subject myself to beta software on purpose unless somebody is paying me to do so but then I spent a lot of time working professionally as a test engineer. :-) |

I loaded up Steam fine on the Windows 8 Dev build. Started up TF2 and it also worked fine.
I don't use it as my main OS though. |

You are likely to experience issues with graphic drivers, if you are lucky to find at least installable ones, and become a pro in using the Task Manager as well as in reseting Windows back into the just-installed state, for the very least.
Keep yourself out of the Windows 8 preview unless you have a good business reason not to do so. |

Let's assume Valve has several computers up and running with the earliest drafts of Windows 8 dev builds.
