Running great now (Nvidia user)
VideoCard Spec: 2X GTX580 SLI
Drivers: 285.38 Beta Changed Nvidia Settings: -Sli rendering = Single-GPU (cause game doesnt support SLI) -Tripple Buffering = On -Vsync = Force On (all other settings are default) (Removed suggestion to put Anisotropic to 16x, leave it at ddefault instead, changing it causes weird graphical glitches in the game) InGame Settings: -Resolution = 1920x1080 -Anti-Aliasing = 16x -GPU Transcoding = off (On causes framerate drop/stuttering) Launch cfg: "+cvaradd g_fov 20 +set com_skipIntroVideo 1 +set com_allowConsole 1 +fc_maxcachememoryMB 1024 +ik_enablesmoothing 0 +image_usecompression 0 +jobs_numthreads 4 +mem_phymemblocksizem 3072 +m_smooth 0 +m_rawinput 1" Performance: - 60 fps stable - No stuttering - Minor Texture pop-ups still (only when turning really fast) Other Tweaks Done - Did texture cache tweak, which pretty much involves you adding in a new folder in appdata/local for cache files. Inside local i made a folder named "id software", then inside that folder i made a folder named "rage", so now its "users/myusername/appdata/local/id software/rage" EDIT: The game is now perfect imo after adding in this fix http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2156408 it basicaly eliminated all my texture popups, you guys should try it out. EDIT2: To anyone still having problems, steam user "FusedCore" has made a custom config file that helps with performance , try it out. http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...0#post25524360 Last edited by cyborg34573: 10-05-2011 at 05:44 AM. |

Thanks for this summary! This info is available elsewhere in the forums, but it's scattered around, and it's nice to have it in one thread with "nvidia" in the title.
![]() FWIW, I've made most of these changes to my own game (haven't done the launch options or created the extra directory yet) and the performance increase was astronomical. The game is smooth, pretty, and fun now. I look forward to implementing the rest of the changes tonight. |

What are your computer's stats? CPU spd, RAM, etc.
Curious because i have done everything you listed here, except I can't tell any difference with GPU transcoding on or off. |

Processor: Intel i72600k @ 4.5Ghz Memory: 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws x Series @ 2133Mhz VideoCard: 2x SLI (1x Asus GTX580 DCUII, 1x Evga GTX580 SC) HDD: 1TB WD Caviar Black (games installed on here) OS:Windows 7 64bit With GPU transcoding on the popups are eliminated for me but it takes a hit in my performance, my fps drops to 53fps most the time, i choose to play solid 60fps so i turnd it off. With GPU Transcoding off, turning fast you can see the textures be blurry for a split second before going into full detail, but the fps is solid 60. |

Not that is matters but you don't combine your GPU memory when using SLI so unless you have the 3GB version of the 580 you should be entering 1536MB

On a single GTX 480 I have no stutters, 60fps and hardly any texture pop-in at max settings with +20fov and vsynch forced on. The rest of those tweaks aren't really needed in my opinion.
The real issue is that even the normal textures look terrible. |

I dont really know what "+mem_phymemblocksizem 3072" is (if its even Vram related idk), i just copied my Launch cfg from someone else and it seems to be working great. I do know in SLI Vram doesnt combine, i dont even have it enabled for this game really cause it just doesnt work, but i will try and put it to 1536mb, see if it has any improvement on my texture quality.

Yes im not really sure if the other tweaks i did really did anything but the game works great so ill just keep them there lol. And yeah i agree, the normal textures in the game are not really that great.

Thanks for posting.
I have a i7-2600k CPU, 8 MB DDR3 RAM, 590 gtx. I haven't experienced any studdering, but the texture pop up is terrible. Honestly, I can't believe they released a game in this state. I'm waiting for a fix from id, and for nvidia to release a final version of the beta drivers, which will hopefully include a fix for the texture pop in, if id can't fix it themselves. I just can't enjoy a game where textures load in as I play, especially if it's in the same area and I'm only turning! Maybe I'm picky, but it's too annoying to me. |

I did all of this, launch tweaks, folder, drivers... everything. I appreciate you trying to help, but nothing improved at all for me. Horrendous texture draw-in even when turning slowly, I mean really bad. 1 gig GTX 460

Have you tried uninstalling your drivers clean and installing the beta again?, cause sometimes when you just install a new driver ontop the old one, some old driver files dont get replaced and continue to be used. I would recommend uninstalling your drivers in windows then erase all Nvidia driver files in safemode using drivercleaner pro before installing new beta drivers. Idk if itl do anything for you tho. The engine might be detecting our hardware wrong, who knwos. |
