Correct me if I am wrong but isn't D3DOverider used to enable triple buffering in DirectX environments? Rage is OpenGL so the "Enable Triple Buffering" in the nVidia control panel (which is for OpenGL) would be the appropriate place to turn it on?

No, it doesn't. You can tell whether or not it's working by the system "beep" just after a game launches (which it does not do for Rage). You can force v-sync via the nVidia or ATi control panels for, Rage. However, D3Doverrider doesn't do anything with this particular game.

It works for me - i played dozens of games and it always worked...
i posted this because some players doesnt know how to use FW or CCC.. also some dont install the CP of their VGA sometimes... so its a nice solution

about the Triple Buffering - it forces is if the game is opengl or dx doest matter - although some games doesnt take it very well.. lol

I though rage was openGL...rendering D3Doverrider useless with this game.

Exactly. Rage uses some D3D libraries, but iD is, and always has used OpenGL for their engines. D3DOverrider is useless with this game.

D3DOverrider is the first thing i tried to fix the tearing and i found it didn't work for me but setting it in the AMD CCC did.

D3DOverrider and setting the vsync option in the config both make the game crash for me.

Great app otherwise.

I know this is an old thread, but others might stumble across it like I did and I want to warn them off downloading D3DOverrider as a standalone .rar that some random person uploaded. (No offense, GrimmReaper666, I'm sure you are a thoroughly trustworthy person.)

If people want a guaranteed clean copy of D3DOverrider but don't want to install RivaTuner, they should download RivaTuner from Guru3d anyway and then use an archive program to extract the necessary folder from the executable (I did this with 7Zip; your mileage may vary if you use WinRAR, et. al.)

Procedure: open the exe (right-click -> 7Zip -> Open Archive), open the folders \Guru3D.com\Setup\ and extract RivaTuner224MSIMOA2009Edition.exe (or whatever the version is). Use 7Zip to open this new exe again, open the folder \Tools\, and then extract the D3DOverrider folder to wherever you want to store it. D3DOverrider.exe is in that folder. Simple!
