Ghost ship

I was playing SH4 and came across a old sailing ship that look like it was made of smoke/glass, on the map it came up as `what is this`.
The japan air force kept bombing it but could not sink it.
My sub @ 23 knots could not catch it.
Has any one else seen this ship and why is it in the game.
I took 3 screen shots but the game did not save them (it came up on screen that it had)spooky.
