Nothing, Bethesda is known for great single player games. and that's how most of us want it to stay. sorry but fallout/the elder scrolls series doesn't need it. and i dont want to see it.

Yet again, ID developed rage.
Bethesda published it. And while I think... no, KNOW it will be a port, they know that a huge chunk of their sales will drop if they disappoint us. It'll have perfectly fine controls, the graphics will be dumbed down a tad (but it's 2011, who cares?) and the UI might be ill-fitting, but overall it can't disappoint us. |

Honestly if it's a console port it's only half of the game it could be.
I might not buy it for that reason alone. I didn't play the xbox version of morrowind on the PC and there is no f-ing reason I should be forced to play some console catered port of TESV today. Console games are gimped in every facet so that they can function on the consoles, if its ported to PC all of that gimped lack of quality is put on the PC and how the game itself is handled is inefficient because consoles handle the core content of the game (the files that make the game up) differently than the PC. To put it simply the consoles have to have a system to read the data made for the games, the pc can read the raw data. So porting a console game to a pc is comparable to putting a golf cart engine into a motorcycle and wondering why you only go 15mph. It's sad to see such a once beloved developer and publisher be reduced to nothing but a whipping dog for the console cry babies. I was sorely disappointed when I read that skyrim would be dumbed down for all the idiots. Sad day indeed but oh well, I will be busy shooting said idiots in BF3. |

It's likely to be as much of a port as Oblivion and Fallout 3 were. In both cases, while they were ports, they worked well, and I didn't feel the system was 'dumbed down' for the sake of the consoles.

Right now we are just speculating. I suggest we wait and see how it turns out.

The just released PC specs make it scream console port more than we already knew. 6GB of HD space. Really? thats it? Watch the blackbox versions reveal it to be a pathetic 2-3GB game like Deus Ex:HR

Well, now its here and its all too obviously a console port. Vanilla version is ok. But its fundamentally limited by the awful field of view consoles are forced to use. Fortunately, I bought it for the PC rather than rented it for my xbox (I usually just rent console games for a long weekend normally. Its cheaper and most of them I would probably not play twice) The great difference being, I hope to be able to mod the console out of this game and make it more the game I would have wanted. Personally, its not turning out to be the Oblivion sequel I would have hoped. It just feels a lot more contrained somehow. I cant quite put my finger on it and this may be unfair. It was because of Oblivion I got back into PC gaming so I could mod it like my mates were doing. It went from a pretty lightweight action/rpg on my xbox. To a legendary game on my pc after much modding.
My expectations were pretty low given the announcements about it being for consoles and the disasters with bring and rage. But its a pleasant surprise in some ways. Its far better as a console port than either of those. (ok so is everything else) but it could have been irredeemable. Its not. The more I play the more I see aspects which are really annoying and clearly limited by being developed for a different generations hardware, however, this is also the opportunity. Mod the limitations out and it will be awesome.! While the consoles have not been able to evolve, PCs have evolved massively since oblivion. So now this runs like a dream on a single 6970 or 580. I have a machine with dual 580s and another with dual 6990s giving masses of room for modding. Even people with a mid range pc are going to have the headroom, in terms of resources, to mod the hell out of this. Last edited by Dethstar: 12-08-2011 at 06:31 PM. |

I do. I'd like to play co-op with my son on both of these games. I don't see the point of the game even being released through steam (skyrim) since it isn't multiplayer.. whats the need in a community who can't play together?

If Bethesda developed a game for the limits of a modern PC, there would be too few people capable of playing it, and they wouldn't even be able to make a console version. If you think the graphics are too poor for the PC, download the HD res upgrade. Just because you don't have to overclock your computer to run it, doesn't make it crap. |
