So am I seeing this right?

DeathSpank came out on 25 Oct/ 2010 Then,
DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue 30/Nov/2010,
The Baconing 31/Aug / 2011

Does that mean The Baconing is like DS 1 and 2 combined?

The Baconing is a direct sequel to DS2.

is there any reason to get DS 1? or DS2 pretty much covers it up till the baconing?

You can purchase whatever you like. But you wont get the whole story if you don't buy all games :S

These games are comedies. You'll be missing out on humour (and yes, some story) mostly.
