Hi. If you purchase Skyrim now do you have to wait until Nov. 11 to begin the download or will most of the game be available prior to 12:01am so the game is nearly ready, then at midnight you just need to get authorization?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. |

Usually they do a kind of "pre-download", where you download most of the game (95+%) a day or so in advance, then once the game is officially released you can download the rest.
It's unknown if this will be the case with Skyrim, but they usually do it for the big "AAA" titles so I wouldn't be surprised if they did it that way. |

Well there's no real confirmation yet, but both steam and bethesda allowed you to pre download both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, so there's no reason why they wont allow it on Skyrim.

It really has nothing to do with steam, its all about the publisher. Fortunately bethesda's last few releases as far as I know have had pre-load so there is a good chance skyrim will too.

I wouldn't expect to see the preload up until the weekend of the 4th at the earliest. Even for a game like this that's plenty of time for everyone to get their game downloaded.
You can also probably except a new splash in the store page or post on the Steam news page about the preload going live. |

its way too early to start pre-downloading it. It won't start until a week before at the earliest, but most likely 3 days before.

It has already been confirmed that users will be able to preload Skyrim close to its release.

I guess that preload will be available next Friday (11/4). Skyrim is already in gold master. it means that they completed the game already. otherwise they didn't do competition like faster run which Bethsda tradition among developers. I posted it before. faster run was 2 hours 16 minutes. the guy won fallout 3 faster run before.
