GTA 3 mods here!

I didn't see a thread for GTA3 mods so maybe everyone could suggest their favorites.

I just got the Xbox Version Mod. The author imported the higher res textures from the Xbox version to the PC. The characters, vehicles and vegetation are much better than default. Also has updated effects and uses the enbseries mod for reflections and a tiny amount of bloom. Looks great and is not overpowering.

It works fine on the Steam version and it has an installer so Tex Mod/IMG Tool etc. use isn't necessary.

Xbox version for PC

Edit:
Make sure you install it to Grand Theft Auto 3 and not GTAIII.

HD upgrade for Xbox version mod
http://www.mediafire.com/file/ob4jj8...ICLES4XBOX.rar

This upgrade converts the GTA3 HD vehicles tri pack 3 mod to be compatible with the Xbox version for PC mod. The HD cars mod also has HD fonts, HUD, particles, wheels and weapons which are also included.

Install the Xbox for PC mod first then extract the rar file above. Run the GTA Mod Installer and select "install mod with script file" then "I want to select a folder with script file" for both GTA3IMG and TXDIMG contained in the rar(run mod installer twice). You can use the backup feature if you wish or back up gta3.img,gta3.dir, txd.img,txd.dir yourself.

Next copy the data and models folders overwriting the vanilla ones. Backup first if you wish or you can verify the cache in Steam to revert to the original game.

HD VC extra cars
http://www.mediafire.com/file/bjj2mj...Dextracars.rar

The above HD upgrade doesn't include the extra cars for Vice City from the GTA3 HD cars mod. Here they are. Install like the above HD upgrade using GTA mod installer for GTAIMG and TXDIMG(run installer twice again), then copy the models, data and text folders over the vanilla files.

Here is the link to the original GTA3 HD vehicles tri pack 3 mod from which the upgrade was taken.

Other mods of interest:

Widescreen mod
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=15521

Widescreen mod that corrects the FOV and can be changed to whatever FOV you like. The VC version doesn't work for me but the GTA3 version works great.

Real car names
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=11241

Don't use with the extra HD cars! Real car names mod. Replaces the fake names with the real models they are based upon.

Cover mod
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=13799

Cover mod. Take cover behind walls/cars and still be able to shoot weapons.

Gang violence mod
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=11957

Gangs now don't aimbot you while driving/walking around town. It's really annoying when your car blows up out of nowhere. Now no more!!

LCS radio station
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=8006

Replaces the chatterbox station with Liberty Jam from Liberty City Stories expansion.

GTA3 Hardened
http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=1819

GTA3 too easy? Not anymore!

Looks cool.

This the best enhancement mod or is there better ones?

What about Vice City & San Andreas?

It's the best one for GTA 3. I haven't checked up on VC yet. SA has a few. There is a texture pack, UltraHD, and a few others.

Can you clear up the instructions a bit?

At first I extracted all the HD cars pack in the GTA3 folder. Then you said only to extract a few select files. Whoops. So I reinstalled the Xbox mod and extracted the files you said too.

Now how do I use the HD Cars for Xbox mod? Select install a mod with a script file? Where is the script file? In grand theft auto 3\models\ folder? Not working?

LOL...since you figured it out feel free to suggest how I can make the instructions clearer if possible.

I have some good Vice City graphics mods too I may add in another thread. Until Vice City Rage or Vice City IV come out we have to combine a few mods to get the best graphics we can. Vice Cry 1.67 is the best for now. 1.7 version should be available soon as well.

Just a bit of organizing. Like put the steps below the download links. Heh.

Anyways this is cool. Kinda wish for a bit better models. Maybe city textures too.

The biggest issue of 3, Vice City & San Andreas is the pop in effect. Wish that could be fixed. Just annoying seeing things pop in.

However in the end even without the visual improvements. It's the game play that matters and is fun.

Will have to check out Vice city & San Andreas enhancement stuff too.

Also progress on the GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas ports to the GTA 4 engine.

Cool stuff.

OK. I went ahead and included everything in one download. That should help.

It does until you mod those as well.

Get these for Vice City:

Vice Cry 1.67
Newk's HUD v0.2 (I like version 4)
VCcarsrestyle25R2
vcs_weather_mod_v1.2 (only use the timecyc file. The rest conflicts with Vice Cry. Vice Cry is better)

Then bring the enbseries stuff from the GTA3 Xbox version for PC mod. Put where the gta_vc.exe is in root folder of the game.

d3d8.dll
d3d9.dll
enbconverter.ini
enbseries.ini

Then tell me how Vice City looks. LOL If you have an Nvidia card and Windows 7 it is easy to put downsampling as a custom resolution. I am using 3200x1800 for a 1920x1080 monitor. That gives a little AA boost to the built in level 3. If the pop in could be reduced it would be even better.

Edit:
It looks like the installer created a GTAIII directory inside of common\Grand Theft Auto 3 and doesn't install correctly. Cut and paste the files/folders out of GTAIII and overwrite the vanilla files. You should see a xbox menu if it worked.
Or when you pick your steam\common\grand theft auto 3\ folder, delete the GTAIII part of the directory in the install dialog, it then installs into the right place.
