Sleepless in Sernimir

Last mission on Sernimir IV -- tutorial stuff, yeah yeah.

Can't make the formaldehyde (CH2O) -- I can make the CO okay but then I try attaching 2 H to it and find that I can't attach, rotate twice and attach again.

Anyone care to give me a hint or share a solution? Only thing I can think of to do is to somehow create CH and OH and somehow attach those together.

Hints? thanks

Don't rotate the molecule. Your output doesn't have to be an exact match of the product image.

I attached both H atoms at the same time (bonded them simultaneously to the C). So I just needed a sync to grant the other waldo some time to move the H's in position.

Hint: you can move the Bonder squares to a different configuration.

I had mine in a configuration like:

O
OO
O

So, in my first reactor I bond C and O together.

In my second reactor I have the red waldo drop off two H atoms, the blue waldo picks up the C and O and drives them into the right spot, and just bond the whole lot at once.

Two little tips, just in case you didn't realise (these are important to know)

You can bond while moving. In other words, you don't have to drop atoms before bonding them.

"Bond+" and "Bond-" instructions don't need to be placed directly over the grey bonder thingies. The bond instructions don't even need to be the same colour as the waldo holding the molecule/s.

By the way, if you post a picture of your current progress on the solution, people here will be able to give you some pointers without giving away the whole solution.

I didn't know you could have two IN instructions running per loop of the waldo. For some reason I thought you could have only one per START cycle. That's really helpful.

Regarding the image -- I know that the game gives an easy way to make movies of solutions. Does it also offer a screenshot? I haven't looked yet.

and yeah, I knew both these things already, but it's always helpful to have them repeated sometimes. Thanks.

If you're running the game through Steam, you can just press F12 to take a screenshot, upload it to the cloud and copy its address and paste it here. However that will show your Steam profile (actually, there might be a way, but it's a tiny bit more complicated). If you don't want to do that, you can just use the prtscreen key, alt+tab out and paste the copied screen into Paint or some other image-editing software, save it to your computer, and then upload it on a free image hosting service. I use imageshack usually because you don't need to have an account. Then you post the link from imageshack for your image here.

Note that many image hosting sites don't accept bmp files, so make sure to save it as jpg or png or gif etc.

this has to do with my OP:

Is there some trick to moving the bonders? I can't seem to move mine.

Relevant picture: http://steamcommunity.com/id/anamach...726?tab=public

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I've noticed that sometimes I can drag and drop elements already in the reactor (arrows, GRAB/DROP, etc) and sometimes I can't. When I can't, I have to create a new one and then delete the old one. If there's a fix for this, I'd love to hear it.

To move bonders, all you should have to do is move your mouse cursor over them and the cursor style will change indicating you can pick up the bonder by holding the mouse button and then dragging it to where you want.

If that's not working, maybe you're experiencing a bug.
If on the bug side of things, maybe try verifying the integrity of your game cache as a first step to seeing if you can fix it. To do it, right-click game in steam library, choose Properties->Local Files->verify...

I tried that, and no dice. (according to the properties, the game should be up to date as well.) The cursor does change to a 4-way arrow when I mouse over the bonders, but I can't move them.

Can't move the tags in the reactor, either, as I indicated last post.

Maybe send off a bug report (zach@zachtronicsindustries.com). Have you tried a bit of google searching for this problem?

Oh, maybe this will help:

Steam displays the product code in the corner of the screen every time the game starts. To get rid of it you press +tab to bring up a special steam screen then exit the screen to continue playing. The thing is, if you exit the steam screen by pressing escape you can no longer drag pieces around the reactors. You need to exit by pressing shift+tab again.

Thanks for the advice on verifying steam game files. That sounds like it could come in handy in the future.

Yeah, I let the code come up because I haven't unlocked multiplayer yet; I was going to permanently dismiss the code once I input said code. So most of the time I hit ESC to dismiss the Steam window -- exactly what your quotation said.

Thanks so much.
