Lightbulb [GTA4](FIXED) Social Club Unavailable Temporary Fix

So, is the Rockstar Social Club been unavailable since yesterday to you?

Try one of the solutions below...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-->THE EASY WAY<--

Posted by Adster3000 on the Rockstar Support Page.

There is a much easier workaround to get it to work.

SET YOUR DATE TO THE 22ND AND IT WILL ALLOW YOU TO LOG IN AS NORMAL.

This would suggest that it's either a bug or it was intentional by Rockstar to prevent people from playing after the 22nd. It is much easier than downloading the whole social club file and having it installed again.

Spread the word.

Well, here's a temporary fix I found on the Rockstar support page by one of the user (not a Rockstar rep)

1 - Download the separate, stand-alone version of the Rockstar Game Social Club
http://www.rockstargames.com/support...GSC/index.html

2 - Unpack and install.
3 - When finished, run GTA4
4 - At the Main menu, don't load the game yet. ALT-TAB out of GTA4.
5 - Load up the stand-alone RGSC and login like usual.
6 - ALT-TAB back into GTA4 when you're done login in.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

These temporary fixes will allow you to play online.

Alright works fine!

I'm going to try and uninstall Social Club and reinstall and see if I get anywhere. Just a question, but do I need to have my GFWL account linked with Social Club?

Man I really hate this crap. Why can't we have a normal game where everything is implemented within the game itself and doesn't require the creation of multiple accounts?

Edit: Discovered the crashing wasn't due to Social Club, but something with modding that I had done last night. Deleted the files and verifying now. Will try this when it's done.

One of DRMs screws up, you can't play the game, lol.
List of DRMs on GTA4: Steam, GFWL, RGSC, Secu-Rom. If you can find a game with more DRMs, let me know.

How is Steam classified as a DRM?

You can't start the game without login to Steam, of course within Steam version

Wrong.

Steam does not have to be running in order to play GTA IV. Just go to the folder it is installed in and run LaunchGTAIV.exe

It isn't as far as this game is concerned, but certain other games actually require Steam to be running in order to play. Mainly Valve titles of course. But as for GTA IV, Steam does not have to be running.

Again, if you find an update for either the Social Club or GTA4, DO NOT MANUALLY INSTALL IT.

Steam, when the time is right(...) will patch the game/social app with the correct version.

The fix in this thread is for those who have GTA4(vanilla, no mods) on Steam and have the "Social Club unavailable" message.

PS: A Rockstar rep posted in the related support ticket.
http://support.rockstargames.com/ent...or-pc#overview

@TonganUNIT @Others Thanks for posting the temporary workarounds involving alt-tabbing to RGSC. If you can provide a link directly to the steps on a separate page and it is confirmed to work, we will add it to the main article as an unofficial method for playing online until we have been able to look into the issue further.

So, this fix is semi-approved by Rockstar for now. No worries about getting banned or anything.
