How do I add BF3 to Steam

I tried adding the BF3.exe but as soon as Steam loads it (and says I'm playing BF3) when I get to battlelog it says I'm not playing it anymore.

Tried adding the Origin Client itself and it says when I play it I'm playing BF3 (Renamed) but it never loads the origin Client.

Any ideas on how I can get Steam to show I'm playing BF3 whenever I actually am playing BF3?

You see, BF3 is not a Steam game. Go ask on EA forums.

Just add Origin.exe as a shortcut in Steam, then run Origin through Steam, then launch Battlefield 3.

Voila, you should have the overlay in-game. I tried this during the beta and it worked.

Mr. Lumbergh told me to talk to payroll and then payroll told me to talk to Mr. Lumbergh and I still haven't received my paycheck and he took my stapler..

Does the game have an exe? If so, can you launch it while Origin is running?

Like I mentioned in the OP, I can have Origin running and attempt to run BF3.exe through Steam but as soon as it starts loading Steam no longer indicates that it is running BF3.

Launch BF3 directly from Steam

Click add a non-Steam game and then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 and add "bf3" from there. And if you want the Steam overlay to work, just make sure to exit Origin completely before launching the Battlefield 3 beta from Steam.

It works perfectly, my friends and I have been using Steam with the beta all day.

You also need to completely exit Origin after you are finished playing BF3 for Steam to say you are no longer playing the BF3.

Edit: This is NOT a solution to stop Origin from starting. It is NOT possible to start BF3 without Origin. All this does is make it so you can use the Steam overlay and also so you don't have to launch the Battlelog from Origin, it launches directly from Steam.

If it's still the same as beta you also need to disable the origin overlay

After exiting Origin, exiting Chrome it's not even loading BF3 or Battlelog anymore when trying to run it through Steam.

I've had it disabled the moment Origin was installed, but I double checked and it's disabled.

Of course he is - he's a gamer. Unlike most of the other corporately corrupted Publishers out there who literally just care about money and probably play 1 game a year, resulting in the production of bad games which they think is good.
