Came across a BF3 hack already.

I was playing BF3 multiplayer today. Everything was fine, until I came across this server. It is just another ranked server I found through Battlelog, with Punkbuster turned on. At first the game was going great, but approximately 5 minutes into the match - all things went crazy.

Everybody who were on the ground, were all of a sudden sent into mid air. The altitude was great enough for everybody on my team to free fall for well over half a minute, and still nowhere near ground level.

As all of us were falling down, we were once again moved across the map - but this time to a very specific location. Within the blink of an eye, everybody on my team, including myself, were suddenly sent to ground level again, but right in front of a tank (controlled by this player). Obviously, all of us were immediately blown to pieces. I couldn't get that part on film because I didn't think of it at the time, but I did manage to film another spawn manipulation (albeit a much smaller one). The game finished within 5 minutes after that, and he had 80 kills in total.

EA, you need to work on this right now. Hacks on day 1, seriously?

no there are a few dedicated hackers out there just like they existed in BF2

funnily enough they simply make themselves even bigger targets because of BattleLog etc

they will be banned, and then they can give EA more money to buy a new copy of the game

There will always be hacks day 1 of release. Majority of seasoned PC gamers isn't surprised.

But if you meant that you as an individual who came across a hack by chance then it only matters how big the game is, in terms of popularity.

The good thing is there are so many servers and players right now it should be pretty easy to find another. I havent run across any hackers myself yet, and honestly I probably wouldnt even notice on a 64 man server.

Well.. the case I was talking about was indeed on a 64 player server. The game was going on fine, but all of a sudden everybody on my team literally got transported from the ground to the sky, and then again back on a ground around one minute later - right in front of a tank with its cannon already prepped.

The cheater killed everybody on my team with 1 shot.

You're very naive if you think any game engine is not going to have hacks. Every and all games will always have a way of being modified to give somebody an advantage, you just have to get used to it like the rest of us.

Only thing to prevent cheaters is good admins.

I understand games (especially on the PC) will always have hacks. I've played Battlefield for a long time now, back in the day BF2 also had its fair share of wall hacks, aimbots and what not.

What struck me the most was probably the pathetic mindset of those who are willing to pay for hacks, and EA's seemingly poor effort to deny such hacks. I just feel that they could have done more in this area. You have to agree running into a hack that killed 30 people in 1 second, all on Day 1 of the game release, is a pretty depressing sight.
