Stability issues?
I've heard/read that this PC port has a ton of stability issues, etc. Any truth to that? $13 is a great price but I don't want to throw cash at something full of game-stopping bugs and whatnot.
I can handle the odd bug or graphical glitch here and there, as long as the game (and plot!) is worth it, but if its stability is as bad as, say, Prototype, then I'll pass. So...should I go for it???

It's hard to say. It really depends on your system, and it's inconsistent on systems with similar specs.
I used a friend's steam account to test it on my system, and it wouldn't let me get more than 20 minutes into the game. This is the very first time I have ever seen it on sale on Steam, ever! That's almost a sure sign there will be future sales as well. I would wait until Christmas to see if it goes on sale for a few bucks. Otherwise I don't think it's worth the risk. I'm certainly just going to wait until I can get a new pc though, and hopefully then it will run. But sadly I might have to pass. |

I got it for the $13 dollars, I can tell you, I have already ran into one glitch.
First part of the game in the hospital, there is a keypad, you have to piece together a x-ray you find for the password. After I obtained the other half, it's as if it never existed. Not in my journal, I can't place it on the light box and it's not in my inventory. I had to look up a walk though just to get a password so I can move forward in the game. I am guess it won't be the last.

already posted a thread asking if the steam version fully updated has the lagging cutscenes when you enter the graveyard area.. renders the game unplayable as that lag then persists after the cutscene and gets worse and worse turning into seconds of freezing
only one person replied though.. he said he didnt get the problem.. but that doesnt mean i wont.. i would buy it otherwise.. but im just not sure it would work properly |

Thanks for the replies.
This is actually the 2nd time I've seen SH:H on sale - I think the first was last Christmas or New Years. Anyway, I think I'll wait til the end of the year. If I didn't have to pay rent in a few days then I'd chance 13 bucks on it and hope for the best, but I'm not seeing anything here that disputes what I've read elsewhere (that it's kind of a buggy mess). |

I can play it without issues ONLY by launching the game from the folder, but doesn't record playtime or anything steam related.
