windowed problem

So, I editet the CFG file in %appdata% so that I could run the game windowed. but...

when the window opens, it's in the upper-left corner of the screen.

if i leave it here, when I get to the exploring part the visual is fixed to the sky. I try to make the character look down, but it returns automatically looking at the sky (or the ceiling, whatever).

if i move the window (for example in the centre of the screen) then the visual start spinning from left to right, and spinning, and spinning. and i see the mouse cursor outside the game window just going around by itself.

so... what now? i like the game in fullscreen, but i also like doing other things when i'm playing...

(sorry for my english, it's not my mother language)

p.s.: I read in another thread that having two CFG files could be the problem (one in the steam folder, one in %appdata%). so I tried deleting the one in steam folder but the problem did'nt solve.

Are you loading a saved game??... I read a post on the forum somewhere that the saved game file may become corrupt after editing the cfg file... Try deleting your saved games and then start fresh...

The game shouldn't be run in windowed mode in the first place. In fact, the CFG file wasn't meant to be edited

What you can try is disabling the Alternate Control method in the Options menu. That will allow you to properly control the game in a window.

I'll try as soon as can, I hope that fixes the problem... I'm liking the game, but normally i prefer playing in a window, if the resolution isn't widescreen.

Also, could anyone figure out why the subs are all righty and often goes out of the screen so I have to imagine what the characters are saying?

Does that subtitle thing happen on fullscreen or window? Keep in mind windowed was never meant to be supported, it's there just for debug reasons.

both windowed and fullscreen... I tried various resolutions (yes, i know, the cfg file wasn't meant to be edited, but i discovered it yesterday), but going back to 1024x768 didn't help. and I don't remember if the problem was already here or not, sorry.

anyway, I'm playing this game fullscreen. in the end, it's way better that way.

maybe uninstalling and reinstalling the game after cleaning all related files will solve?

(oh, btw, thanks for the answers. i noticed you being very active in helping us getting the best experience possible from the game. i really appreciate this.)

and another thing, is there a way to have italian vocies? among italian players, this game is known to have one of the best italian voice acting EVER.

Reinstalling never hurts, yes. You mean the subtitles move to the right as in they look displaced, yes? Never heard of something like that, to tell the truth. Just to be clear, this happens during phone calls only?

Nice to know about the Italian voices, I wasn't aware of that. Unfortunately the publisher has long been out of business and we never got around including that translation. So for now I'm afraid it's not possible

Does Scratches have wide-screen support or can you play in full screen @ 1680x1050 resolution?

Yes, I mean exactly that. I'll be home tomorrow, I'll let you know if the problem is only during phone calls or happens in other situations.

Pity for italian voices

It's been confirmed by another used that forcing vertical sync to ON seems to do the trick. You have to do this via the control panel of your video card.

OK it worked. Thanks. I wasn't sure however, if I was to choose
the "3D Application Setting" or "Forced On Setting" so I selected Forced On and it works fine on that setting.
