SOLVED: Conviction Launch Issues on Mac OS X Lion

If Conviction crashes whenever you launch it on Mac OS X Lion, the following may provide a workaround.

Steam forum for Assassin's Creed (another Ubisoft title having similar launching issues in Lion) had a solution which also worked for Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Download updated Ubisoft Game Launcher (presumably for Lion):
http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/lau...ncher.mpkg.zip
  1. Once you've downloaded the Ubisoft Game Launcher for Mac, double-click on "UbisoftGameLauncher.mpkg.zip".
  2. Now right-click on "UbisoftGameLauncher.mpkg" and select "Show Package Contents".
  3. Open "Contents" then "Packages".
  4. Right-click on "ubisoftGameLauncher.pkg" and select "Show Package Contents".
  5. Open "Contents".
  6. Now double-click on "Archive.pax.gz".
  7. It will unzip twice and you'll see the Ubisoft Game Launcher App magically appear.

Overwriting the Ubisoft Game Launcher.app in the following location with the updated one above resolved the issue:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/tom clancy's splinter cell conviction/Ubisoft

When is Ubisoft going to update their Steam package so users don't have to manually patch this?

Thanks for the advice!

No idea if it's worked though as Ubidsoft have banned me from playing the game for stealing it from somebody else's account??

I don't usually buy their games as I've heard loads of horror stories about Ubisoft but I thought I'd give them a go, Certainly won't bother again as I only bought it due to it being on the sale.

Not directly related to your post but do you know if I claim my money back from Steam or Ubisoft?

running fine in Mountain Lion

Just upgraded to Mountain Lion and its running fine. While loading it does pause for a good 10/20 seconds with the three revolving white circles stopping and you think its crashed but it then sorts itself out and overall i think the game is even more playable than under Snow Leopard.

I have a mid 2007 iMac 2.4Ghz with 4GB ram and an HD 2600 ATI graphics card so everyone else really shouldn't have a problem if they upgrade
