Exclamation Please launch the game from your steam client!

What the ?

I've the game installed since "i cannot remember how long ago" and tonight i was trying to launch it.

Trying from the icon on the desktop open a terraria's window (i can see the icon of terraria on my windows superbar) that tell me:
"Please launch the game from your steam client".

Trying from the page of the application inside steam's client = same result.

Tried to uninstall and reinstall the game. Same Result.

Someone can help?

Shut off Steam, let it sync, open up Task Manager and check for Terraria, if it doesn't exist, relog back into Steam and try again.

Most obvious answer, worked for me.

When this happens, Steam is trying to update the DRM and check for game updates and stuff. Whenever it requests this, you should launch from the client as requested so that it can keep things up to date.

Not doing this for an extended period can result in annoying results in the long run. When I first downloaded Half-Life 2, I didn't want all of the multiplayer fixes that were being released as patches. I avoided updating for months and just played the single-player campaign. Then, I accidentally started the game one day with Steam already running and logged-on, and it frigged up the entire installation. So many patches, updates, and so much content had been added in that the stupid Steam system missed steps and left things out. I had to spend hours re-downloading and installing everything from scratch. Really .

Lesson--if Steam says "Please do this with this game," just do it. Steam knows what it needs to do, even if it's not the most efficient system in the world.
