[Tutorial] How to fix most launch issues on Windows Vista/7

[hahahehe]

Steam seems to have some major issues with the final 3rd party software installs for L.A.Noire and actually launching the game.

This can be fixed very easily, to fix it please do as follows

If you've had issues with the third party apps not installing (Rockstar games Social Club to be specific) then you have to Verify Game Integrity

1) Open Steam
2) Right click L.A.Noire and select Properties
3) Select Local Files
4) Click Verify Integrity Of game cache
*Important, do not run the game after this process is finished until you have completed all other steps

Next you have to disable UAC totally

1) Open Control panel
2) Select Users Accounts & Family safety
3) Select User Accounts
4) Select Change User Account Control Settings
5) Put the slider down to never notify
6) Click OK

Next you have to run Steam as administrator

1) Totally exit Steam by right clicking the Steam icon and selecting Exit Steam
2) Navivate to the following directory

Windows 32 bit (X86)

c:\program files\steam

Windows 64 bit (X64)

c:\program files [x86)\steam

3) Right click Steam.exe and select Run as administrator

Steam should now lauch as normal (except with admin privilages), now you can launch the game. People who had problems with RGSC installing should now see it install, once thats finished the game should launch perfectly.

Once your game has launched once it will work without following this guide every time.

Hopefully this will help some people.

That's better.



Anyway, the game should have unlocked 13 hours ago. Instead, it thinks it shouldn't unlock, and there is no installation button.

Edit:

Runtime error fixed with starting as administrator.
