Doesn't work with "new format".
After the game content conversion, anything that has to do with the file system, such as saving/loading empires, games etc. crashes the game.
A clean install didn't alleviate the problem. Anyone else having these issues? http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/x...Scouty/sev.jpg I'm on XP in case that matters. |

Windows XP might make a difference, but it shouldn't.
Here is what I know, I am on Win7 and I was able to load a saved game and save it again. Then I started a new game just fine. Okay, remove SE5 again and then go to this directory: D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common Now, find the SpaceEmpiresV folder, and delete it. Next, go to your recycle bin and empty it. If the SpaceEmpiresV folder wasn't there, then just move on to the next step. Restart your computer. Reinstall SE5. Is the problem still there? Please post so I can know if I helped or not. ^_^ |

Yes, what you described was exactly my 'clean install'.
![]() I managed to get most things working by manually creating Temp, SaveGame, SavedEmpires and GameSetups folders. But I still can't load game setups for some reason... |

I had the same problem - it works when you have ALL of the following folders under "SE5":
Ai backup Data Docs Dsgnname Empires Fonts GameSetups GameTypes history maps Music Pictures SavedEmpires SaveGame Scenarios Sounds Temp Utilities That worked fine for me! :-) |

Thanks, I'll check the list to see what I'm missing!
