MW3 for PC - which ports to forward?

My NAT is currently showing as 'strict' in MW3. Just wondering which ports I need to forward for the PC version as I can't seem to find this information anywhere?

Thanks

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 transmits and receives network traffic on port 3074 (UDP and TCP).

Additionally the Steam client transmits and receives network traffic on ports UDP: 27000-27015, 27015-27030 and TCP: 27014-27050.

Forwarding isn't the solution. http://xifon.eu/mw3sa/mw3.html

Also: if you do forward, don't forward anything in the 27xxx region, unless you want to run dedicated servers. You don't need any form of forwarding for normal game usage and a strict NAT will allow you to play just fine.

It does let me play in multiplayer games despite the NAT showing as strict, but thought it would be preferable to have it as open in case of any potential disconnections (I have already had one or two) Thanks for the replies anyway, just the information I needed - I'll have a read of the link provided.

I've got a Zyxel router and it showed me as NAT type moderate even with UPnP enabled, I've forwarded the ports 3074 and range 27000-27050 and now I can join my friends game, so it does help.

^this

My brother and i are able to play perfectly fine without disconnections despite both being behind strict NAT, its only going to be needed if you want to host a dedicated server

If not then its just a potential security risk

Hi all, ive not used this forum a lot but i would like to pass on this info.

I had strict nat on both MW2 and MW 3, i port forwarded the ports (all port info on routers and games on portforward.com). Whatever i did it remained strict, then i tried turning off firewalls on router and pc, also tried DMZ (unsafe) on router. It turned out to be the router, BT HOMEHUB 2, i have replaced it with my old sky router (works on BT with a little tweaking)now both games open, ni kicks, no Disconnects even on BF3.

So if you know anyone having problems with MW3 etc check the router make 1st.

I find it hilarious you need to forward the Xbox Live port to open the NAT on this game.

DMZ is the answer, then you only have to deal with your software firewall...which in most cases should be easy to allow a program!

First you have to have a public IP and the nat problem must be caused by your router and not by your shi*y village internet provider.
Some of the ports below are for Steam itself , MW2 , MW3 .
I dont know exactly which ones are the MW3 right now and i dont want to search the internet again

I went from strict NAT to open with :

TCP+UDP
3005
3101
1500
6112
30260
80
88
3074
53

You gotta be stupid to put your machine in the DMZ. Leaves it wide open to anyone.

Yep, BT HomeHub2 here too. Tried all that I can find on the t'internet to get the NAT type to Open from Strict but with absolutely no luck whatsoever. I've got 3 other mates who all have the HH2 as well, they are all encountering the same problem.

Judging by the amount of people who have problems with the NAT type I'm wondering whether it's worth starting up a seperate thread purely to reflect what modem/routers are causing this issue - if we can collectively show that it's related to the game or our hardware it might give us more power to get the issue sorted one way or another.

Same problem here, the best way to fix this and cheaper than a new router is send the game back, get your cash and buy another game BF3 maybe and that is the only way activison will care about your problem, actually I am wrong they coundn't give a s***e about you....so there!
I am with the chap who says try another router cos that is your only hope.

Well I did nothing with my connection or router for the last few weeks and my MW3 connection is working now, just shows you all this NAT,A/V,settings is a waste of time it was their problem but why would they ever admit it!
My Nat is moderate and connects in secs......... no problem.
Please note, all my other online games worked perfectly through STEAM during this outage so that tells it's own story!
