I am slightly disappointed that not all weapons from ToD made it in, but I might still get it, even if it's mostly to support you. ^^

I hope the new weapons don't make the game too easy. I think the difficulty level was ok before: challenging without being too frustrating.
It's good that you thought about not making all weapons available directly to new players, so it's not too easy on the first playthrough.

What's the difference between the old and the new beam weapon?

Similar to the advanced beam cannon from ToD I believe.

Also, I completely forgot to ask: will the DLC be available to buy on Desura and when?
That's not only because I want the GNU/Linux version, but also because I might then buy it together with some other stuff.
I haven't seen DLC on Desura yet, but I hope they support it. Otherwise there's always Gameolith or Indievania.

Do Gameolith or Indievania support DLC? I know Desura does not yet.

I bought the DLC and it does not show up on my library.

DLC is embedded to the game, look at the properties for Steel Storm Burning Retribution.

If it's not there, try rebooting Steam to make sure it's downloaded it.
