Invalid steam user ID ticket

When trying to play mods I keep getting the error "Invalid steam user ID ticket" now this isn't a computer or internet problem it is a steam problem I know this because I used a different account on the same computer and when using this account I could connect and play without receiving the message in question and so could all my friends that had the same problem.

After 2-3 hours of playing the mod I still cannot connect using my regular account.

Why is this happening to some accounts and not others?

Just had the same problem..

This works:

delete everything in my steam folder exept:

-Steam.exe
-Steamapps FOLDER
-Friends FOLDER

After this just run steam.exe and it will start downloading.

This will however trigger the steam account security thing, this means that steam will send u an email with a code to your steam-registered email account wich u will have to retrive and enter in steam before u can log back in..

The fix seems to be deleting your /steam/config/ folder. As mentioned, it triggers an account security thing from Steam which requires you to re-active your Steam account, but otherwise it should fix. I think that's only for verified accounts. If you have an unverified account it probably won't do the last part.

I hate to dig up an old topic, but is there anything to SPECIFICALLY delete from the folder to fix this issue? I'm having it whenever I try to connect to any ZPS server and since I cannot receive emails from Steam, I'm stuck without the ability to redo the account verification crap again. Was just wondering if I can avoid that part at all...

If you want to fix it you're most likely going to have to re-verify your account. Why can't you receive emails from Steam?

This bug is back but it only pertains to Source SDK Base 2007. If you have a mod that runs on this engine it will not work. None of the old fixes works.

To fix this current bug for Source SDK Base 2007, follow the below info.

The only known way to fix this is server-side: the server needs to have Steam client running. It doesn't need to be logged in though.

Also, you need to be using SteamCMD as opposed to HLDSUpdater.
AppID for SDK Base 2007 is 310.
