Aspect Ratio?
It seems stuck at 4:3 for me, with no option in game to change it. Toggling the stretch option just makes the image bigger or smaller, but still 4:3.

From what I've heard, there's no true widescreen aspect ratio for Cave Story+, so you're not missing out on much. I wish they figured out how to make it true widescreen where you can see more things to the left/right, but oh well.

The widescreen version of the game for Wii was just a cropped and stretched version of the game, don't expect any better here if it's even possible.

Bah this sucks. Part of the reason I bought it was because I wanted it widescreen on my netbook! I don't see why they would update the graphics and fail to add widescreen o_O

By any chance, is there a way to force widescreen through an ini tweak?

Even if you could with a ini tweak, it will most likely be stretched

I was really disappointed in this. I've loved Cave Story for a few years now, playing it through once a year or so, and the original free version adjusts to my screen resolution automatically *without stretching*, in other words it goes to a 16:9 resolution and allows me to see farther to the left or right.
Now that Cave Story+ is available for purchase, of course I had to make that purchase to put money in the coffers of the developer who made this wonderful game.... But it's super annoying that the resolution refuses to fit my screen. Why? I don't even understand. It's such a simple thing. What a disappointment. |

Not that I remember. It was 640x480 and stretched to full-screen. It didn't scale, as far as I know.

![]() Gah. You're right... I much preferred it that way, though. I guess I'll just see if my video card settings can stretch this out. I still think they should have included more resolutions. |

This is assuming your monitor/GPU stretches. |

The only version that features a 16:9 aspect ratio is the PSP one, and it looks awesome, but well, I don't complain, I still have my immortal CRT.

I don't think Cave Story takes any commands, so no.

it is tremendously stupid and very revealing of their laziness that in the year 2011 when almost everyone now has widescreens they would port a game stuck in 4:3.
