And the title for 'Worst quest in Skyrim' goes to:

Forsworn Conspiracy

Well maybe not the worst, but certanly the most annoying one. In the first place, it's bugged as hell, requiring several reloads to just complete correctly.

In the second, it doesn't allow you to stray from the script not even a little. If you do, you not only break this quest, but most likely every other in the city of Markath.

For example, guy comes up to you and after a short dialog (in which you can REFUSE the (brawl) option btw), attacks you. So you, archmage and master of destruction, what do you do? Put a fireball up his ? Wrong. You HAVE to fight him hand-to-hand. If you do use magic (or probably a weapon.. didn't try), the whole city attacks you. And if you have the gaul to actually fight back you not only get a massive bounty (for defending yourself??), but also invincible essential NPCs attack you constantly (poor choice here Bethestda.. if you're going to make invicible NPCs, at least make them non-aggressive unless specifically attacked.. or passive-coward like the children AI)

And this is just the first stupid decision in this quest.

I couldn't but smile sadly at the comment when you go visit that 'Nose' fellow.

'What makes you think you're getting out of here alive? My maid is a forsworn!'

Gee.. I don't know. Maybe the fact I can torch the lot you in under a second or my friend here in full ebony can slice you up in half that time. So unless you got an army of forsworn maids hiding around somewhere, I think that my chances of walking out of here look pretty good.

And it goes on like that.. no room to maneuver whatsoever. You either do what the script says or you break the quest (and the city)

"What makes you think you're getting out of here alive?"
me: "Do I look concerned to you?"

A tip for any other would-be assassins: Try wearing armor next time.

The town guards' sudden but inevitable betrayal went a bit worse for me and my companion (Uthgerd). We killed several of them, and then she was struck down while we were separated, and I was forced to retreat in order to survive.

I totally agree. I found that quest to suffer from terrible railroading which is something very much frowned upon in RPGs. It pretty much removes all free choice and as player you feel forced into certain decisions and action; you sort of feel detached from your character. And by far the worst was the fist fight, as Mage it was nothing short of Healing potions spam as you got no Stamina for power attacks, and no hitpoints, and the moment you cast a spell you rightaway have all the guards on you.

Well, to be fair, you were told not to use weapons or magick in the brawl. Like every other brawl in skyrim.

For me it was escorting Barbas the dog near Falkreath all the way up to that god forsaken mountain top. I think it took me around 10 minutes just to get to the entrance of the cave with that dog's casual stride.

That ing dishlicker actually decided to tour one quarter of Skyrim before leading me to the shrine.

Yay, AI pathfinding...

Blood on the Ice is the worse. Most incredibly buggy piece of crap quest.

Travel to the location ahead of him and then wait 24-48 hours until the marker points to the cave. Barbas will be inside and in the back with the statue engaging the vampires. So you don't have to escort him.

Yea I remember that, the damn mutt kept running back to the same spot over and over. I think I ended up fast travelling somewhere and when I did he was at the location. Great quest though in the end.

i like how it gives you the option of taking it quietly or putting up a fight and if you put up a fight you can't kill the 3rd guy down there he keeps getting back up :|

Sounds like a Fist fight mini game type quest thing which are always no weapons.

Anyway I forget where I was fist fighting a guy at the stables but in the midst of the fight he moved when I swung, and I wound accidentally punching his horse. As soon as the punch landed on the horse he pulled out a dagger and proceeded to fight me with it.

But it was a no weapon fight... :
No weapons my ...

The Dark Brotherhood quest where you kill the son of a guard and plant some evidence on him. You have to kill him in town to get the bonus. I was following him and then a dragon popped up. Long story short, dragon stole my kill... and then promptly paid with its life.

I had a 12k bounty in Markath after that quest...
Every time I had to go to Markath for other quests I would have to fight off 5 guards. 12k is too high a price to pay for self defence and I don't want to loose all accumulated progress on my skills.
