"Don't die" Achivements?
Hello everyone. I thought about tackling the Woodboy achievement and the others that require you not to die. Do i have to do all the levels in a chapter in one go without dying, or how does it exactly work?

I've got Wood Boy for beating the chapter in one sitting without deaths. When I died, I simply went to level one and started again.

Well you can get it that way, that's obvious, but is it necessary? That's the question.

You can do the levels in any order. For instance, if your hardest level is 15, you can do 15 to 20, then 1 to 14, and you'll get the achievement if you do that without dying. But as soon as you die, you have to start over. Note that you can also change characters as many times as you want through this, and it will work as well. You aren't forced to use only Meat Boy to get those achievements.
Going back to the stage selection map won't cancel your progress towards that goal (otherwise, it wouldn't be possible to get the achievements without starting from stage 1). But if I'm not mistaken (although I cannot personally confirm that), going back to the world selection map will cancel your progression. |

From what I've heard going back to the map in the middle of a level doesn't affect progress (so if you know you're about to die you could effectively avoid death), not 100% sure on that though so don't get mad at me if it's wrong.

I achieved a few of the no death runs by going back to the map after completing a level. There is a video of the first Impossible Boy run on YouTube of the player going back to the map somewhere in the middle. He starts to get nervous, exits to map, enters level, and a second into the level, he is almost panicked with excitement, and exits to map for no reason, then continues to recieve the Holy Grail of all that is good and true in Super Meat Boy. Watching some of the recorded No Death runs helped me get a few of them, but the last six achievements I want will take another year of dedicated game grinding. Presently I have over 40,000 deaths and counting.
